Maqbool Fida Hussain, fondly known as M.F. Hussain, passed away in a London hospital on Thursday. He was 95 and died from a heart attack. According to news reports, he passed away at London's Royal Brompton hospital. Husain had been suffering from age-related ailments for some time and suffered a heart attack in the hospital, the sources said. Husain was born in Pandharpur, Madhya Pradesh and career began in the mid-1940s. His paintings regularly fetched over $1 million at auctions around the world. He had been awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1973 & Padma Vibhushanin in 1991. He produced and directed Gaja Gamini with his muse Madhuri Dixit. Madhuri was the subject of a series of his paintings.
